May 3 "Night in"

As with almost all get-togethers of our friends, most are unplanned. After our day out at Mall of Asia, watching the kids compete, I got a call from Dan asking what we were doing later on that night. Since we weren’t planning a night out anyway, Dan decided to come over with Bern in tow. They brought over 2 lechon manoks from Sr. San Pedro (which were yummy, by the way!), while we served them different types of maki. These were brought over by Neil as his pasalubong for me, so I begrudgingly had to share these now with our guests. Fuming! (hehehe, joke!)…

Why nights in? Well, compared to spending hard-earned cash on dinner at a restaurant, then coffee at Starbucks or Seattle’s Best, “nights in” are kinder on the pocket. We have the place all to ourselves. No worries of waiting for tables, joshing for space or anything of that sort. And the good thing, is that we can stay as long as we want. The bad thing, is that guests usually stay as long as they want. Hehehehe…

It was a night-in which we spent playing games on the wii. The kids played to their hearts’ content, and only went to bed after so many reminders. All the delaying tactics exhausted, pleas of “just one more game, please!” falling on my deaf ears, they finally surrendered, and went up to their rooms to sleep. All that being said, when I went back up to check on them, not more than 10 minutes after, they were already snoring! So all those excuses of not being sleepy yet weren’t true after all. Ah, kids!

We then spent the rest of the evening talking, eating, having coffee and dessert, then watching youtube! We watched funny clips of japanese game shows (search “marshmallow eating”, “human tetris”, and “can’t laugh”), and the kid standouts of this season’s “Britain’s Got Talent.”

We wrapped up 3 AM, and who knows when we’ll suddenly have another “night in” like this. Maybe soon? Who knows.
