Lenten fast

Lent can be more than a time of fasting from food; it can be a season of feasting. We can use Lent to fast from certain things and feast on others. It is a season in which we can:

FAST from anger; FEAST on patience.
FAST from pessimism; FEAST on optimism.
FAST from worry; FEAST on God's providence.
FAST from complaining; FEAST on appreciation.
FAST from fault-finding; FEAST on one's goodness.
FAST from laziness; FEAST on enthusiasm.
FAST from idle gossip; FEAST on prayerful silence.
FAST from discontent; FEAST on gratitude.
FAST from bitterness; FEAST on forgiveness.
FAST from judging; FEAST on Christ's dwelling in people.
FAST from emphasis on differences; FEAST on the unity of life.
FAST from thoughts of illness; FEAST on the promises of God.
FAST from unrelenting pressures; FEAST on unceasing prayer.
FAST from hostility; FEAST on returning evil with good.

And here I was, just thinking of fasting, or refraining from eating meat this Lenten season… Easier said than done, but it WOULD be good to strive to fast and feast on the above suggestions. :)
